Sarah is having trouble finding anyone to go on holiday with.
Mac tells George he’s booked her in with a top Obstetrician. George is miffed because she wants to have the baby at home. She and Mac end up arguing about it and Mac goes to Julia, stressed. Julia fixes up a session for Mac with Amanda.
Amanda and Mac discuss babies. Amanda tells Mac that there is no way she’d consider having children, especially as Jimmi requires mothering.
Meanwhile, Martin is in intensive care with his wife and daughter maintaining a bedside vigil. Jeanette comes to visit Martin, desperate to know whether the man who claims to be her long-lost-son is going to pull through. Martin wants to take a DNA test to prove he is the son that was snatched from him pram as a baby.

Julia is sorting out some old toys she has stored away. She is planning to give some to George and Ronnie for the baby. Sarah mentions that she is going to go to Lanzarote for her holiday. Mac and Julia go out and buy new toys for Cieron, who apparently is in to dinosaurs.
Meanwhile, Joe, a little boy with autism is the recipient of some mysterious bruising. His mother takes him to see Mac, who is not in the least bit suspicious of either her or her husband. Both Mac and Sue, the mother, see Joe visibly flinch at his sister Emma but Sue does not want to acknowledge that they may have solved the mystery and her daughter is responsible.
Later, Sue spies on Emma and Joe alone together and see her restraining her brother by force causing him pain. Sue calls Mac in a panic who comes round to make sure Joe is not physically harmed. When Mac chats to Emma, who wants to be a paediatrician when she grows up she tells him that she was trying to cure Joe using a technique that involve forced holding and eye contact that she had read about in a newspaper. Mac explains to Emma that this technique doesn’t work and has been abandoned. Sue hears Mac and Emma talking and comes to realise that Emma wasn’t intentionally trying to hurt Joe.

Mac tells Julia that Amanda mentioned to him that Jimmi was like a son to her in some ways. It starts Julia speculating about possible oedipal tendencies.
Ronnie comes in with a lunchbox that George left in his car. George takes it as affirmation of her incompetence and has a go at Ronnie.
Greg, Mac and Helen have a partners meeting about George’s maternity leave. George is supposed to join them but forgets. When she finally arrives, Mac asks her to take the afternoon off. George regards this as further affirmation of her incompetence and rails against the others. Helen comes to find George afterwards and cleverly talks her round into having the afternoon off.
When Ronnie arrives home he finds George sitting in a waterless birthing pool.
Jimmi takes Sarah to the airport as promised and they are surprised by Amanda, who has come to whisk Jimmi away for an exotic weekend in Marrakech.
Meanwhile, Frank, an old gentleman in his eighties, retired teacher is being evicted from his home because it has been declared unsafe by the council. He has a heart condition and asks PC shelly Bateson to get hold of Jimmi as she stands outside trying to coax him out. Frank is not budging and uses Jimmi as a delaying tactic. However, Frank is genuinely ill and Jimmi suggests that he belongs in hospital.
Frank flatly refuses and chains himself to the radiator pipe using a bike-lock. As the police break into the house, Frank has a heart attack, due to the excitement and, despite Jimmi’s attempts to resuscitate, he dies. Shelley Bateson has to concede that their heavy handed approach may have cost frank his life. Jimmi does little to reassure her.
