It’s the aftermath of the party. Amanda arrives in dark glasses and George in a foul mood, she is embarrassed at her behaviour but refuses to apologise to Amanda.
Julia and Mac are busy with last minute preparations for their holiday to Canada.
Ronnie calls to persuade George to speak to Amanda. George will have none of it and ignores his subsequent calls. She is ashamed when Ronnie arrives later with his news; his uncle has died.
Meanwhile, Tina’s Mum Jess has agreed to be a surrogate for her and her son in law Joe. Jess is 50 and delighted to become a Granny and to see her daughter happy. Joe is also excited as he is keen to settle down and wants Tina to be a stay at home Mum. Tina has other ideas and is scared of losing her freedom. Joe has noticed her drinking but lets it go.
Her Mum Jess is also becoming more concerned. Jess has been happy to see her daughter married and living a normal life after her difficulties as a teenager. Tina was a drunk in her teens and finally went into rehab when she was 16. The pressure of the oncoming baby has led to Tina drinking a bit more again until her past finally comes out; Joe had no idea and is worried about their future.
Tina wants to do better and convinces Joe she will go to AA if he agrees to listen to her more. Jess says she has to prove she can hold it together before she hands over the baby.
