I just worked out that I was slightly off on my calculations of when episode 1000 will air. the episode airing on September 8th is episode 990, so going by that and hoping there's no days without eps/double eps, the 1000th should be friday 22nd

here's what TV quick says about the episode
Doctors is celebrating it's 1,000th episode this week with a star studded one-hour show. As the staff go about their day, all working on seperate cases, their fates become inextricably intertwined as tradegy strikes.
While Jimmi is treating cocaine-addicated former model Megan (played by ex-footballers wives star Susie Amy) for an asthma attack, Nick is visiting Jack (Richard Briers) a care-home patient who's convinced he's being haunted.
Back at the surgery, health-service manager Selena McKinnon (The Smoking Room's Paula Wilcox) is putting everyone's backs up. Julia's trying to identify a man who has collapsed in reception and Joe's treating Ellen, a teacher with tongue cancer.
It's when George rushes off early to pick up baby Bracken that events take a shocking turn.
With Jimmi, Nick, Julia, Joe, Ellen, George and Megan all out driving, a jogger runs out into the road. at the same moment as Ellen swerves to avoid the jogger, Megan overtakes George and has to swerve to avoid Ellen. Megan then hits a truck carrying flammable gas. which causes an explosion.

I'm not entirely sure - that article and the picture along with it seems to imply that its Megan.
My current gut feeling is that it's Julia

It could be more than one person maybe?  Maybe Megan, plus one of the regular as well? |

So maybe its just Megan in the life threatening incident, but someone like George for instance is in the situation but doesn't get badly hurt.

Maybe it could be liked that but Alex W originally post, and Inside soap, did say furthermore the explosive instalment will see a REGULAR character fighting for life after a car crash!" i'm also sure i read that in What's On TV a few few back |

If the accident is as serious as that, then it has to be Julia, because she's only one not mentioned in the spoilers for after the 1000th episode. But I could be wrong, as this story is being kept a closely guarded secret so far! |

I've just found this on the ic Birmingham website, not sure if you have seen it. Stirling, Adrian and Martha model items from Selfidges in celebration of the 1000th episode. Also if anyone is interested the party invitation for the 1000th episode is also on a website.
