I'm wondering though Kat, why bring Joe back for a few episodes? I have a distinct feeling that he's in it to make way for Selina to leave. It is very strange. Although Joe has popped back in to the show before - I'm certain that time we were all speculating that Joe was back to die of a brain tumour due to his headaches. I think it would be a shame for Ruth to leave in that way because to me it is overly similar to the way in which Sarah left. It just seems a little unimaginative to have two receptionists leave so similiarly. I wouldn't be surprised which ever way this goes though. Receptionists don't seem to last long in Doctors which is a shame as they have been some of the best characters in recent years (Vivien, Ruth).

Totally agree with you Kat it would be very similar to Sarah's exit. Maybe we've got it all wrong!!

Carolina, Katrina, Jo, Debbie, Sarah, Nathan, Donna and even Mavis have all been very memorable. But no-one can top Vivien. I wish they'd change nurses more often. Ruth, Faith and Tasha were good, but after that..... Michelle was obnoxious, Archie boring and Cherry is not much better.

In the synopsis for the episode airing Wednesday 17th November, Ruth is considered Joe's offer so she doesn't just up and leave with him (which is pretty much what Sarah did - seems a little unbelievable thinking back how quickly she decided to go).

From the DS spoilers it looks pretty certain about Ruth I just hope any new receptionist is as strange as the last few have been.

I'd be sorry to see Ruth go. Do you think The Mill will be getting a replacement for Michelle. ?

I will be so sorry to see Ruth go, she has given us some fantastic storylines, completely believable too. (unlike silly smilie Cherry) she has been a support for Zara as well. I love Ruth & think there is much more to be done , but if she wants to leave there isn't much the scriptwriters can do is there!.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ruth left. It has been mentioned for a few months now about how much more she wants to do with her life and how she can move on. This seems an ideal way to do it. If you remember it was a long slow burn sowing the seeds that G&R were going with all the talk about China. That went on for about a year didn't it. As for EDW leaving - silly thought. I doubt very very much if she is going anywhere for the time being. There is too much the writers can do with her character. No need for some of you to panic! Sadly I wasn't wrong was I? I must stop reading the writers minds! lol
