The Woodsons win it for me. Maybe it Zara and Daniel get together and stay together for a long while they'll edge it but i doubt it somehow. The Woodsons had very special chemisty probably because of Stirling and Sean's real life relationship. Plus they were in the show a very long time. Sadly I can't see either Zara or Daniel sticking around that long. It has taken Karen a long time to grow on me although in general that seems to be the case with receptionists. I always wanted to like her though as I loved Jan Pearson in Holby. The domestic abuse storyline with Simon, her relationship with Terry Fox and the trial. Holby just isn't the same any more

Agreed. Jan/Kath was around in the golden age of Holby! Now Amanda Mealing/Connie has left, it's definitely the start of a new era and not one I like all that much. When I think back to the storylines they used to have, current Holby City is just... dull. Also, agreed about the receptionists. Vivien took an absolute age to like, as did Ruth. Mrs Tembe is no different. Can't ever see myself warming to her! Weirdly though I liked Donna almost straight off, but then she went odd. Ooh I don't know. Sadly I agree with the not staying around long bit, I honestly can't see EDW staying around much longer - I always thought she took the Doctors job to try and get away from the 'period actress' label she'd been stuck with for so long. Problem is she's a brilliant classical actress, and with the lack of filming breaks then she'd have to leave Doctors to do anything substantial However, if they do both stay around for a few more years and something happens with the frozen egg storyline? I wouldn't put it past them to usurp the Woodmans, they have fantastic chemistry despite not having the grounding that Sean and Stirling do in real life. Don't get me wrong, George was my absolutefavouritecharacterever - until Zara came along. Love them both, but I think a Zaniel family unit would have the edge (though please, find a baby that does something. I mean I know she's spectacularly well-behaved and everything, but Izzy's actresses don't do anything, whereas Bracken was always brilliant.)

Fingers crossed, it'd be ten times better than if she left.

Agree with Kat - it's the Woodsons for me!! Zara and Daniel could come close but they'll never quite better G & R (btw I hate this `Zaniel' business - maybe it's an age thing but I prefer people to be given their names even if they are just characters in a t.V. programme!). I don't dislike Rob and Karen as much as when they first came in to it but they still don't do much for me and if the whole family left I can't say I'd be that bothered. Didn't particularly like Jan Pearson in Holby, I actually prefer her in Doctors. As for receptionists, the only one I've never really liked was Donna. I found her incredibly irritating.

I like Zara and think EDW brings her character to life extremely well. Receptionists: loved Sarah and obviously Vivien was a great favourite too. Totally diffeent characters but both very good.

I'm starting to wonder if even the Woodsons can compete with Zaniel (hears cries of "ooh, controversial!" ) The Woodsons win easily! No controversy or even competition. ;D

Well each to their own. I sat watching Holby tonight with my family, loudly lamenting the fact that Kath "wouldn't have sacked that guy," Kath "would have sorted that out." My mother asked me whether I had some kind of delayed post-traumatic stress disorder or if I was aware that it's now 2011 and Kath left years ago
