Immie reluctantly offers to go with her mum, but just then Jack arrives, ready to go. At the clinic, when they are called through, they hear a voice behind them - Rob. Karen looks at him and asks Jack to leave. Inside the consulting room, Karen grips Rob's hand as she takes the pills from Doctor Watts that will end the pregnancy. Karen then reveals she is going back to work, so Rob drops Karen off at The Mill and waits outside in the car. Karen goes through the motions all day ahead of her next appointment in six hours' time. Back at the clinic, Karen takes the rest of the pills and then lets Rob take her home. Rob dinner for the family and they all sit round the table together. Jack, Imogen and Rob clearly enjoy being reunited but Karen suddenly loses it, furious that they are acting normal. She says that every year on the due date of the baby she miscarried she mourns - now she will have to mourn the day this baby would have been born: August 23rd. Jack and Imogen leave their parents alone and Rob apologises for not being there. Karen lets him hug her and agrees he should stay in the spare room. Later Rob finds Karen in the hallway, trembling. Rob realises it is over and holds a sobbing Karen, taking her into the bedroom. She thanks Rob for being there and tells him she's going to visit her father the next day, but reveals that when she comes back she wants Rob to leave permanently. Rob looks down and sees Karen has removed her wedding ring...  |

This seems a really brave choice in having Karen go through with the abortion, most other shows would explore the cop out reconciliation with everything in the garden being rosy and Rob and Karen being delighted with their new baby.
On a separate Zaniel note I'm hoping everyone's predictions of an imminent return to the story of their relationship is correct! We need more Zara and Daniel, even if it is not necessarily a straightforward reunion straight away! x

I have been reading the spoilers on DS and I am sick of all the relationships being broken. I thought that Karen an Rob were rock solid, and that was the charm of the characters . I can't believe the writers won't let us have one happy marriage.
Yuk if it has to be Jimmi and grinny girl!!

It's going to be a very sad episode, and I think the writers are very brave to include something like this, which must happen a lot. I haven't been a huge admirer of Karen in the past, but these sadder storylines have made me warm to her. Jan Pearson has been excellent I think.
