I'm fairly certain that Matthew is simply taking a little time out to do some directing, that's definitely what the producer implied on DS. I'll be having kittens if this turns out to be true but surely if he was leaving he'd have a large exit storyline since he's a long-established character and a reduction in screentime during October would be a very odd way to go about that! Unless you mean Matthew is finishing filming in October, in which case I shall never watch the show again in protest (that's a total lie).

The Doctors page on wikipedia has Daniel leaving, but returning late 2011. Not sure how this will be written into the show, but perhaps a temporary job elsewhere?

I read on DS, I think it was in an interview, that the upcoming storylines will include a birth, a marriage and a death.
Anyone know who they refer to? Maybe its already been mentioned on here, I'm really behind on the posts on this board.
I would guess that the birth is Zara but you never know.
I would also have assumed that the marriage would be Jimmy and Cherry but marriages rarely run smoothly in soaps lol. It seems a little too obvious. Also reading ahead on the episode spoilers who's this bloke who's stalking Cherry? Could that be the death? If Eva's coming back does that mean that Cherry's out of the picture?
And if that is the death, then who's going to get married?
Anyone know?

I have no idea, with Doctors it could be completely different to what we think! Julia could get a surprise proposal, a paitent could die and have a baby?

According to DS
"Daniel and Zara are due back from holiday, but a frazzled Zara arrives alone as Daniel's mum has fractured her hip - forcing him to stay behind in Greece."
So I'm guessing this explains Daniels departure for when Matthew Chambers is directing!
