'A World Of Their Own'
8th Sept
Whilst getting dressed at home Mac is tense about Marcia staying with Julia and him. Julia reproaches about Ciaran staying with them, similarly unannounced. Mac pushes Julia, but realises he may have gone too far, and agrees to try and put up with Marcia.
When Marcia mistakenly walks in on Mac getting dressed, Mac is about to blow. Julia reminds him that Marcia is an old friend, and when Julia needed a friend, when Mac left her years earlier, Marcia was there. Julia is actually touched by Mac’s patience.
Sarah is bowled over greeting Jimmi at reception.. In her haste Sarah bodges her make up and is embarrassed by Jimmi taking the mickey. Jimmi charms Sarah to within an inch of her life, and has her wrapped around his finger; Sarah is arranging his appointments to suit and running errands for him immediately.
Julia bonds with Marcia at home, who is still prone to tears. Julia reaffirms her support as a long-time friend.
At reception Greg teases Sarah about her helpfulness with good-looking Jimmi. Greg smirks but Sarah gets into a huff.
Sarah arrives at Jimmi’s room with his dry cleaning and Sarah giggles and leaves as he undresses, promising to cover his patients so he can leave earlier for a private appointment.
Later Sarah annoys Helen and Greg by dumping some of Jimmi’s patients on them; Greg’s bad tempered; Helen is shocked he did not ask them to help cover his appointments and vows to have a word with Jimmi on his return; Sarah defends Jimmi and does his dirty work.
Mac and Julia argue over Marcia when she goes missing with Ciaran. Julia is fearful. Mac anxious and angry. On Ciaran’s safe return, Mac loses his rag, reminding Julia that they are looking after Ciaran, who has been abducted in their care before.
Meanwhile, Bridie Stevens is staying with her Son, Keith, and wife Jodie. Bridie is Grandmother to Emma and Danny. Emma is a shy nervous toddler, Danny the complete opposite. Bridie has very different childcare ideas, and voices these to Faith at the Baby Clinic. Faith has a one to one with Jodie, concerned about Emma’s reluctance to speak. Jodie was similarly shy when younger. Helen suggests that it may be a Selective Mutism, an anxiety disorder, and refers to a paediatrician. Jodie may have had this as well. Bridie softens when she realises Emma may have a disorder; Jodie is fearful Bridie may stay with them longer now.
Marcia continues to stay with Mac and Julia. Ciaran goes missing with Marcia, and Mac is worried. Mac and Julia argue. On Ciaran’s innocent safe return Mac is angry at Marcia and Julia, reminding Julia that they are looking after Ciaran, who has been abducted in their care before.
Jimmi wraps Sarah around his finger; Sarah is arranging his appointments to suit and running errands. Helen vows to have a word with Jimmi about having appointments covered by colleagues.
