Former Hear'Say star, Kym Marsh, is to make her Doctors debut this month. Kym will play Ruth Parry, a woman suspected of being The Mantis. The Mantis has become infamous around the streets of Birmingham for drugging their victims, one of whom was Jimmi, and stealing their belongings.
Kym quit manufactured pop group, Hear'Say, in 2002 and went on to enjoy a solo career and a stint on the stage. She hit London's West End in the ultimate 70s musical, Saturday Night Fever, landing the female lead.
Kym recently told OK magazine, "I learned lots from my time in the theatre and it also gave me the acting bug."
"I've now signed up with an acting agent. Music is my first love and always will be. But I'd really love to do straight acting as well."
