Note, in this Fic its August 2005. The fire and all the stuff after it haven’t happened but Nathan has left but because he missed his adoptive parents. also this has nothing to do with Not Just A River or Friends Of The Past.
Part 1
“Your getting married in the morning, ding dong the bells are gonna chime” George Woodson sang merrily as she danced drunkenly around her friend Helen Thompson’s living room. Helen giggled at the show that was going on in front of her eyes. She had decided not the drink that evening as she didn’t want to get married with a killer hangover. She turned to Tasha Verma who was sat besides her almost falling asleep. Helen couldn’t help feeling sorry for the young woman – twenty-two (?), single and eight-months pregnant. Sarah Finch appeared in the doorway trying to keep her balance; Faith Walker came up behind her wobbling just as much as Sarah. George sat down on the sofa and rubbed her head unhappily,
“Helen, can you get me an aspirin” George sang out like a child. Helen smiled and got up of the sofa and went off towards the kitchen. She returned a few minutes later with two mugs of steaming strong black coffee. Helen groaned as she helped Sarah and Faith to sit down, she gently helped the two of them drink the strong black liquid. the two women grimaced but drunk it anyway. by the time they'd drained the mugs, Tasha had slumped on the sofa, finally having given in to sleep. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jack Ford looked at the bunch of wild blokes; he wished he hadn’t agreed to have a stag do. Ben, Greg and Ronnie seemed to have something planned, he could tell in the secretive way they kept smiling. He had already suffered having to watch the stripper, he didn’t have a clue what was coming next.
“We best get going, we don’t want to be late getting to the church” Greg stood up and stretched his arms over his head, pretending to be tired. Ben winked at Ronnie. Jack got up with Ben and Ronnie and the three of the followed Greg outside. Greg caught sight of a lamppost on in a side alley just up the road, he moved his head slightly to the side indicating to Ben and Ronnie that he’d found the place. Ronnie grabbed hold of one of Jack’s wrists while Ben slapped something on to it, before dragging Jack towards the lamppost. Ben attached the other part of the handcuff around the lamppost before Greg grabbed Jack’s trousers ripping them off with one tug, then Greg grabbed Jack’s t-shirt and pulled that off. Ronnie rose up his camera phone and took a photo of the naked Jack attached to the lamppost. With that Greg and Ben turned away and began to walk off, Ronnie smiled at Jack
“best mans duty. I’ll come get you in the morning if I remember” with that Ronnie went after Greg and Ben laughing.

Part 2 – it’s the next morning
“oh my head” George Woodson moaned rubbing her aching head, the full affects of last nights heavy drinking season finally coming to its climax. She wished she hadn’t drunk so much especially seeing as she was meant to be helping her friend get ready for her wedding beside her Sarah Finch was shaking her head as if trying to shake the pain out of her ears, her method was failing and in fact was making her hangover worse. Next to those two was Faith Walker who was resting her head on a cushion, trying and failing to forget about the pain. Helen Thompson walked in to the room holding three steaming mugs of strong black coffee in her hands; she forced the three hangover-sufferers to drink it which they did although they complained about it. Helen turned and looked at the other sofa where Tasha Verma was laid out of the sofa, sleeping peacefully. Tasha looked surprisingly vulnerable despite her size. Helen gently shook Tasha’s shoulders to arouse her; doing this made Helen feel extremely guilty she remembered what it was like to be eight-months-pregnant and how precious it was to get good nights sleep. Tasha slowly came to opening her brown eyes blinking in the bright living room light. Helen turned back Helen, Sarah and Faith who were perking up a little with their strong doses of coffee. Tasha slowly sat up rubbing her eyes. Suddenly George’s eyes widened “It’s your wedding day today!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ronnie Woodson rubbed his sore head desperately trying to remember something. He was sure there was something he was meant to be doing. He turned to Ben Kwarme who was also rubbing his head but he didn’t seem to be thinking, in fact he seemed to be staring off in to space while Greg Robinson was drinking hot coffee and humming softly to some track he’d heard earlier on the radio. “Was I supposed to remember something?” Ronnie spoke his thought aloud hoping that it would jog his memory. All he could remember about last night was a female dancer doing amazing things on a pole and a pole with something silver being clapped on to it. The other bloke’s memories were just as hazy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jack Ford slumped against the stone cold wall wishing he was tucked up in his bed ready to marry the love of his life instead he was know attached to a lamppost in the middle of Riverside with only his pants for dignity. His arms were covered in goose pimples and occasionally he shivered with the cold but he knew that they would come back for him wouldn’t they?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
something clicked in Ronnie Woodson’s brain, “the wedding? Oh Sh*t where’d we put Jack”
Part 3
Ben and Greg shot up, neither of them could remember where they’d left him or what they’d done to him. Ronnie grabbed his mobile phone and looked at the photo of the screen – their friend, with only his boxers on, attached by handcuffs to a lamppost. Ronnie couldn’t help but laugh at the image before passing it to the other two men who giggled. “I think we’d better go look for him” the three men stood up slowly, waiting to gain their balance before leaving the house, on their search.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sound of laughing shook Jack from his uneasy sleep. He’d somehow managed to get reasonably comfy attached the lamppost. His head felt funny and his mouth was dry. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d had a drink, he’d been very good last night and not had any thing, and he wanted his mind to be clear when he walked down the aisle and spoke his vows. He tried to get his eyes to focus on the people laughing at him but they refused and everything stayed a grey and fuzzy. The laughing suddenly became distant. His head seemed to get lighter. He heard a strong male voice, one he recognised from somewhere then the fuzz started to fade leaving only blackness
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ronnie, Ben and Greg walked towards the pubs they’d gone to last night, trying hard to remember exactly where they’d left Jack. Ronnie’s mobile phone started to ring; he grabbed it out of his pocket and looked at the screen ‘Mac Calling’ he pressed the green phone button before bringing it up to his ear “ARE YOU RESPONSIBLE FOR HANDCUFFING JACK TO A LAMPPOST, RONNIE?” without waiting for a reply Mac continued “WELL YOU’D BETTER GET OVER HERE NOW BECAUSE HE’S COLLAPSED, AND BRING THE KEY” with that Mac rang of. Ronnie looked at Ben and Greg guiltily “Jack’s collapsed. And er do you have the key” Ben and Greg looked at each other “I thought you had it” Ben answered, “don’t look at me” was Greg's reply
part 4 only a few parts left of this one
Ronnie, Ben and Greg broke in to a run, they stopped outside the pub they’d been in last night, hoping it would trigger some memory. The three looked at each other before turning; it wasn’t long before they saw a very angry looking Mac. The three of them slowed there pace, they held they hands behind their backs like little child who knew they’d done something wrong. The three of them stopped in front of Mac, who pointed to Jack, who was slumped against the lamppost.
“The key” Mac reached out his hand, Ronnie shook his head slightly causing Mac’s face to turn red with anger. Mac grabbed his mobile and dialled, 10 minutes later a fire engine appeared. Two firemen jumped out and grinned as they looked at Jack
“Stag night was it?” the taller of the two said. Within minutes they’d sawn the link off Jack’s arm. While they were doing that, Mac rang for an ambulance with arrived just as the fire engine left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
George fiddled with Helen’s hair which wouldn’t hold in any of the styles she tried. Sarah sat mucking around with make-up trying to work out which shades worked best with Helen’s skin tone. While Faith and Tasha set out the dresses on the bed. It took 2 hours to get Helen’s make-up and hair done but it was worth it. Sarah and George happily admired their handy-work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The hospital spent ages looking at Jack, the poor bloke was seriously dehydrated but that was about it. The doctors quickly set up an IV but Jack couldn’t help but feel worried, he knew he’d have to be there at least 3 hours and his wedding was in 2. Ronnie, Greg and Ben stood outside the room, feeling immensely guilty. They caught sight of Jack’s doctor and walked to him, talking in a low whisper, when they went back to the door, they were smiling.
Part 5
Helen sat in the wedding car; the driver was going around a block for the ninth time. She felt like she was going to cry. Here she was sat in her beautiful white wedding dress, her hair tied up spectacularly, she looked absolutely beautiful yet she felt like dirt. The driver turned to look at her
“Don’t cry miss, I’m sure everything is fine ‘sides the bride should be a little late, keeps the groom on his toes” the driver than turned back to the road. His mobile began to ring and he pressed the speak button. A voice came through his ear piece. He began to smile. He drove the car to the church and stopped outside
“Well miss, time to get married” he climbed out of the drivers seat and opened her door for her; he gently helped her out of the car. Helen stepped out; wobbling for a second on her higher than normal heals. George, Sarah, Faith, Julia and Tasha walked towards her. The four of them smiling ecstatically.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inside the church, Jack sat in the wheelchair the hospital had leant him. He felt a bit stupid. Julia rushed inside the church, she stopped by Jack
“She’s coming” shakily Jack held the sides of the wheelchair and pulled himself in to a standing position, with Ronnie and Ben supporting him. The sound of ‘here comes the bride’ started. All the guests rose. The doors opened and in walked Helen with Dan and Claire in front of her. Jack gasped when he saw her; he almost fell back in to the wheelchair. He couldn’t believe that this was Helen walking towards him. Behind her were George, Faith, Sarah and Tasha all holding the train. They stopped when they reached the alter. Helen looked curiously at Jack’s wheelchair, he smiled mysteriously and shrugged. The wedding ceremony began. The vicar read out the vows and at the correct times, Helen and Jack repeated the words. Tasha gasped just before the ‘I dos’ George, Faith and Sarah all turned to look at her but Tasha just shook her head.
“Do you Helen Thompson take Jack Ford to be your lawful wedded husband, to have and to hold, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health until death do you part?”
“I do”
“Do you Jack Ford take Helen Thompson to be your lawful wedded wife, to have and to hold, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health until death do you part”
“I do”
“you may now kiss the bride”
Helen and Jack kissed
“oh sh!t”

part 6 the next part will be the final
“oh sh!t”
The entire congregation turned towards Ria who was stood at the back of the church, she was scowling, her hair was extremely wind swept and her clothes seemed to have been thrown on in the dark. Jack frowned and fell back in to the wheelchair, Helen felt all the happiness drain away from the day. The dark haired woman, laughed
“well, I see theres now another Mrs Ford. We could start a club, what d’you think Helen? We can discuss all things Jack, maybe even rate him see who he’s best with” Ria laughed again, this time a little more evilly “but then again, I’ll guess you’ll be to busy, playing happy families, you, Jack and those two little brats, well Jack darling I hope you like them because from the moment you said ‘I do’ to that woman, you lost all rights to the girls, I’ll make sure you’ll never see them again” Ria looked around the group “and you’d better get to a hospital, because your bridesmaids about to give birth” with that Ria left the church but nobody noticed all eyes turned to Tasha, who was gripping the edge of one of the pews, she smiled apologetically at Helen
“I’m sorry about this, I don’t want to spoil your day” Helen smiled at Tasha
“nothing could ruin today. Now could someone ring an ambulance” Tasha looked up
“could someone ring Nathan, he should be here”

part 7
Two hours later – Helen, Jack, Faith, George, Ronnie, Ben. Greg, Sarah, Mac and Julia piled in to Tasha’s hospital room; the young Scottish woman was sat on the white bed cradling her baby daughter. Nathan, the proud father, was stood by her side his eyes focused firmly on the baby. Tasha looked up at her friends, Helen smiled and stepped forward
“Well little one, you made a special day even more perfect. Shame you didn’t arrive a little bit earlier, I could have used a nice-looking bridesmaid” Sarah, Faith and George scowled good naturedly at Helen. Everyone else stepped forward and stood around the bed, smiling at the baby, Mac smiled at Ben
“You’re a granddad, Ben” Ben smiled, Tasha gently passed him the baby,
”that reminds me, I love all of you like family and would love for you all to be her godparents, I know that usually a baby only has two but well, I can’t only choose two of you” smiled appeared on the faces of everyone in the room, as the baby was passed around. When the baby was put in to George’s arms, she felt her eyes mist up, she also felt extremely jealous of Tasha, Ronnie noticing his wife’s dreamy expression lifted the baby out of her arms, he held the baby girl for a second before passing her on to Helen, Tasha looked at George and smiled
“Well, Ronnie looks like George wants one too. And if you want practise with a baby, I’ll lend you this one, fancying having her every time she cries at 3am?” Tasha grinned and Helen rocked the baby in her arms
“she won’t cry at 3am will you sweetheart” the baby as if arguing, started bawling loudly, Helen smiled “sorry Tash, I did my best and asked her not to, but it seems she doesn’t agree” Helen whispered in the baby’s ear “cleaver girl, you annoy mummy as much as you want, but when Auntie Helen comes to look after you, you’ll be good” Helen gently passed the baby back to Tasha. Helen left the room quickly and returned with Claire and Dan and a nurse armed with a camera. Everyone gathered together, and the nurse took the photo. ‘The riverside surgery family – united they stand, divided they fall’
