this is a one parter. and is set before the episode What Price Love.
Helen paced around her consulting room nervously, her eyes kept seeking out the door and her brain kept fooling her in to hearing the sound of footsteps outside of the room. She shook her head softly; this wasn’t the way she should be acting. Her usual confident demeanour had disappeared in to thin air. This feeling was completely new to her, a million sweet smells filled her noise every minute of the day and the soft sounds of music filled her head. Lost in her own mind, she didn’t even notice, Julia entering the room, a smile appearing on her face as she saw Helen and the secretive magical smile on her face. Julia took a second to think back, to when she herself had felt exactly the same way.
“Helen” Julia spoke softly. Helen practically jumped out of her skin, she stopped and when she turned to face Julia, she looked lost and confused. Julia laughed gently, and stepped towards Helen, taking her hand and guiding her towards a chair. Julia rested herself on the edge of Helen’s desk and smiled reassuringly at the younger woman. But there was something else different about Helen, Julia noted, but one look at her bright green eyes the difference was obvious, they sparkled.
“How do you feel Helen?” Julia asked, in a soothing tone, not really needing to hear the answer.
“I feel” Helen paused, for once she was totally lost for words, her head felt absolutely empty, Julia placed a hand of Helen’s arm
“Like everything’s perfect” Helen said haltingly “every smell is sweet, every sound is melodious. But why?” Julia smiled softly
“Oh Helen” Julia watched Helen’s face carefully “there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. But something is very right” Helen looked even more confused.
“Helen” Julia said in the mothering tone she’d once used on her own daughter and that she’d heard her mother use “you’re just in love”
“Love?” Helen asked confused. She couldn’t be in love; she couldn’t allow another man in to her life.
“Oh yes, your in love” Julia laughed gently “with a certain Doctor Eliot” Helen looked shocked but that faraway look returned to her face. Julia stood and left the room, she smiled at the man who stood to the left of the door, he nodded and his face burst in to a wide smile, causing Julia’s to widen as well.
“Well, it’s up to them now” Julia linked her arm threw Mac’s and led him away but before she walked in to the reception she turned back and stopped dead. She tapped Mac on the shoulder and he turned to, and put his arm around his wife’s shoulder, in front of them in a daze Helen and Marc walked out of their offices and turned towards each other. Slowly, with painstakingly small footsteps they walked towards each other. And then when they were just a few feet away from each other they stopped dead, and just stared in to the others eyes. Until
“We should go, leave them to it” Mac grabbed Julia’s arm and dragged her away from the scene, with various words of protest from her. When they walked outside they both turned back to the deserted reception and smiled, before leaving.
Now as for what happened in the hallway after they left, I possibly couldn’t tell. apart from that a while later, just one word was heard ‘Yes’
