Marc is at the surgery and Helen is finding it difficult.
Ronnie’s client Charlotte is taken in for questioning. George isn’t impressed when their quiet evening is interrupted when he dashes over to the police station.
Meanwhile, Craig and Meriel are celebrating one year of being together.
Craig is very clingy with Meriel and she is beginning to feel a bit claustrophobic. She is also overweight and Mac advises her to lose weight or her health will be in danger.
Craig disagrees he loves her just the way she is. The truth is, he’s scared if she loses weight she’ll leave him.

Jimmi has to start thinking about looking for a house; he can’t keep living in a hotel.
Helen makes a big decision. It’s time for a change…
Meanwhile, Sylvia is hoping now that peter had retired he will get more involved with Christmas and help her with the shopping. Peter has other ideas and prefers to spend time tinkering in the cellar. Sylvia is worried that his old drinking habits might be back, he is being so secretive.
Sylvia decides to look in the cellar while he’s out, she finds a beautiful surprise…
Peter has made her a model of a boat they went on on their honey moon and called it The Sylvia.
Sylvia is still concerned about Peter’s heath though – his eyes are glazed and he doesn’t seem himself. Peter has been sniffing his model making glue.
Sylvia has had enough – she nursed him through his alcoholism and now this – she thought their retirement would be fulfilling. She needs some time to herself to do what she wants..

George is determined to get her labour started, she has really had enough.
Mac offers Marc a partnership now that Helen is leaving. Marc confides in Faith, he came back to see if there was still something between him and Helen and he isn’t sure if Cara is the one.
Meanwhile, Morris Knapper builds a wigwam around his desk and takes refuge in it, much to the amusement of his colleagues.
The people living in the coffee machine told him to do it! Hi s boss is called to sort it out; Morris refuses to budge so the police are called. Morris is bipolar so his colleagues believe he is having a turn.
However, Morris is using it all as a red herring to keep himself there until he has got the bottom of his boss’s expense fraud.
'Tough Love'

Mac has a farewell gift for Helen.
Meanwhile, Alan and Lorraine are recently divorced and adjusting to sharing access to their son Max who is 5 and also has a milk allergy. Alan’s Dad Stanley is overbearing and thinks Max’s allergy is a nonsense.
When Max is left with Stanley he lets him have some chocolate from an advent calendar and Alan returns to see Max lying on the floor.
The gravity of the situation and Alan’s string words help Stanley to see he has to change and stop being so tough.
'What Price Love'

The staff are having a fancy dress Christmas party. There is definitely tension between Marc and Helen. The others are determined to get them to talk and be honest with each other.
Ronnie meets Charlotte at his office and says he can’t represent her anymore, there is too much gossip. George arrives in time to see Charlotte giving Ronnie a goodbye kiss.
The shock brings on George’s labour.
Helen goes to talk to George about Marc and finds her at home in labour. George is blunt with Helen, she has to sort it out with Marc. George is not coping with natural labour well and demands every method of pain relief they can offer.
She finally demands an epidural and is taken to hospital. She still hasn’t had any contact with Ronnie. When Ronnie finally arrives at the hospital George is furious and asks him to leave, Greg will see her through the birth.
Helen is string and goes to find Marc at The Mill to tell him her true feelings; she asks him to come with her to Leeds but Marc knocks her back.
The baby is born, a girl, but George still doesn’t thaw with Ronnie, she tells him to go home and pack.
Marc arrives at the party complete in naval uniform and sweeps Helen off her feet.
Ronnie leaves the hospital and behind him in the ward George’s condition becomes critical…
Meanwhile, Leonard 55 is on stand by for a kidney transplant, things are getting desperate for him.
He and his wife Sheila are not looking forward to Christmas. Leonard’s only solution is to make amends with his brother.
He hasn’t spoken to him for 20 years after he stole his wife.
