'Tragic Hero'
Airs Tuesday, June 6 2006 at 14:05 BST on BBC One
Rico has spent the night writing Violet's story, unbeknown to Greg. He spends the day trying to sell the story to newspaper offices.
Julia returns to work, wearing another new outfit. George speaks to Faith about her condition, who admits it's all become much more real now she's told everyone. Greg speaks to her, offering his support as a friend, but is hurt and angry when he realises Nick has known for ages. Feeling betrayed, he lashes out at Faith for not confiding in him, and accuses her of acting irresponsibly.
Back at home, Greg feels even worse when he finds out Rico has talked to Ronnie about his feelings over Violet's death, rather than coming to him. Rico reassures him that he and Faith love and need him, but also sometimes need other people. Greg feels terrible for letting Faith down.
Meanwhile, Ruth takes her son Joe, a Shakespeare fan, to see Greg, worried about his moods and nightmares. Greg speaks to Joe alone, who insists his mother is the one with the problem, as less than a year since his Dad died, she is flirting with Adam, his Dad's old business partner, whom Joe is clearly suspicious of. Later, Joe see his Dad's name being removed from the factory gates and accuses Adam of trying to steal the business. He runs to Greg, insisting that Adam is trying to poison him and his mum. Greg calls Ruth who explains she asked Adam to bring round some poison to kill the rat in the cellar which is causing Joe's nightmares. She's also legitimately agreed to sell her half of the business to him.
Joe accuses her of never loving his Dad, and runs off. Greg follows and gets Joe to admit that he hates his new school for the gifted as he can't keep up. He's been taking amphetamines to stay awake so he has more time to study, which Greg realises have been making him paranoid. Back at home, Ruth tells Adam she just wants to be friends, and that she needs to discuss things with Joe before finally deciding what to do about the factory. Ruth explains to Joe that she only wanted to let go of the factory in the hope it would stop some of the pain, and Joe accepts that his Dad has gone.
