REMEMBER scary Yvonne Atkins from Bad Girls, who died locked in the prison basement after desperately trying to claw her way out?
She's joining EastEnders in a long-running deal!
Actress Linda Henry will play the long-lost ex of Kevin Wicks (Phil Daniels).
And just like in her Larkhall days she'll be rough and tarty. Hooray!
Our Albert Square source whispers: "Carly and Deano Wicks haven't seen their mum Shirley since she buggered off several years ago.
"They bump into her while venturing out of Walford on a rare holiday. It's quite emotional - there are lots of questions that need to be answered.
"But the upshot is that Shirley decides to move into Albert Square herself, in a bid to patch things up with her estranged family.
"Shirley is tough as old boots and very brassy. She's never without her heels and full make-up, and if there are men around she'll want attention."
Linda, who was brought up in Peckham in real life, played hard-as-nails top dog Yvonne in the hit ITV1 prison series for five years, before the character met her grisly end in 2003.
The actress had roles in The Bill, Birds Of A Feather, Cracker and A Touch Of Frost too.
Viewers with long memories might also remember her very first appearance in Albert Square.
Back in 1992 she was Lorraine Salter, the prostitute mother of teenage tearaway Mandy.
Last night she told us: "I'm thrilled to be joining EE. I'm both nervous and excited as I've watched it for many years." We think she'll be fab.
The former Larkhall actress starts filming with EastEnders next week and looks to be on-screen in December, making her debut on the Square itself early 2007.
I think she will be 'fab' too ;D
