Herriot drama to return to TV?
Monday, March 5, 2007
Classic TV country drama All Creatures Great And Small may return to our screens for one final episode.
The popular series, starring Christopher Timothy, Lynda Bellingham, Robert Hardy, Peter Davison, John McGlyn and Judy Wilson, ended in 1990 - without one show about vet James Herriot venturing overseas.
Now scriptwriter Johnny Byrne wants to make a one-off episode about a foreign adventure, reports the Daily Mirror.
Cast member Robert, who played the vet's employer Siegfried Farnon, said: "I love the script. If it happens I will be delighted."
The original Herriot, Christopher Timothy, and Peter Davison, who played Siegfried's brother Tristan, are also keen to film, reports the paper.
The show was filmed around Yorkshire and was based on the enormously popular semi-autobiographical stories of country vet James Wight.
Wight's grandson, retired vet Jim Wight, added: "If they brought it back I'm sure they'd find a new set of fans."
