There are rumours flying around the Internet that producers are considering moving Doctors from Birmingham to Salford.
Can't find anything concrete, but it seems the decision to move Waterloo Road from Rochdale to Glasgow has interested them.
I think it would be a disaster for the show. It is set in Birmingham and by filming there fulfills the BBC remit to outsource to the regions.

Quick update: the person in charge is Liam Keelan, Controller of BBC Daytime. He can be contacted through his PA: karen.colbourne@bbc.co.uk
I have emailed about this rumour but have yet to hear back.

With Waterloo Road moving and also Casualty I don't think any BBC locations are safe. With Casualty there is always the argument that Holby is a fictional place and therefore could be anywhere whereas Doctors has also stated that Letherbridge is near to Birmingham.
I would be very disappointed if it was to move.

With Casualty it sort of makes sense as they are currently only across the bridge from Cardiff. But as you say, Holby is fictional and so could be filmed anywhere. Doctors has made much of being set in Brum so to move it would not make sense.

I had a reply to my email and it's good news!

That's interesting that you had that response. There's meant to be an article in the Birmingham Post today (which should be accessible online tomorrow) about BBC Birmingham which could potentially spell trouble for Doctors.

I hope that it stays in Birmingham.

I was chatting to some of the crew who work on Doctors and Land Girls (filmed in part at the Black Country museum) and they've heard nothing about a move.
