Sam is causing me to nearly scream at my TV! It was interesting seeing Chris help his father get up. But Chris seemed to not mind. So Sam wants to end his life just because he can't do certain things?!
I myself need help getting up in the morning, among other things (I also use a wheelchair) but I have NEVER wanted to end my life! I love life!
I guess that's why I am finding this storyline hard to watch.
Sorry for ranting!

Don't apologise! I find the whole Sam story completely baffling. If he had been a world class athlete who suddenly found he no longer had the use of his legs, I'd understand the despair...but he's a history teacher! He can still move about, and communicate, he's mentally sharp, he's got a wonderful son who enjoys looking after him (he's a nurse!). He just needs to adjust. There was a lovely scene a few weeks ago where Heston seemed to be getting through to him, and it looked as if he was optimistic....and now suddenly, he's booking himself in to some clinic in Switzerland.
Really bizarre...and I hope it's some strange game he's playing with Emma to try and get back at her for her affairs. If it does go down the assisted suicide route, it'll be really odd. But I do find it very watchable, and even though he can be very sulky and unreasonable with his mum, I warm more to Chris with every episode.
