Beware I am about to go off on one so I apologize for any bad language!
I have watched Doctors for over 3 years now and I can safely say Sam is the first character I have truly HATED! Yes I have disliked characters before; for example Lauren, but at least she was interesting to watch! Whenever Sam appears on screen I just want to slap him! "Oh I am so much pain" Really Sam? I know pain and you did not look in pain!
Also hated the way he bitched about his needs! Yes you need help for a lot of things! So do I! So what!? (sorry for bringing it up again I just don't like the way disabled people have been portrayed and I want people to know not all disabled people are like Sam! Yes I know he was healthy before his accident but even so!)
And the way he guilt tripped Chris into killing him! I am glad the selfish B*s*a*d is dead! It's just a shame his wife and son are going to pay the price! Bet he didn't think of that because he was in sooooo much pain!
On the bright side I am happy Mrs. Tembe has revealed her relationship with Gordon!
And breath!

I agree with you! Sam was awful. I couldn't believe the way he blackmailed Chris into helping him! I really thought that Emma was going to turn Chris in. I just want to give her a big hug! Hats off to Dido Miles for some fantastic acting throughout this storyline.

Hear hear to you Docpb! I have worked with disabled people and although they have down days when they feel miserable and frustrated none of them have ever been such a whinger as Sam!I`m not surprised Emma needed other men! He used emotional blackmail on Chris to make him give the overdose and not a minute too soon if you ask me! Dido Miles has been brilliant during the past few episodes, her eyes have become more sunken with every scene. Mrs Tembe storyline provides a welcome respite.

It found this episode was superbly acted. It was one of the few episodes that had me riveted to the screen ! The decision to ends one life because of an illness or disability is primarily the affected person's alone but there are so many others who need to be considered. I feel that it is can really be acceptable only if the chief family care givers are in agreement with it. I certainly couldn't get how Sam was so driven to die. After his stroke even he was able to speak without slurring his words, he was able to swallow , chew and there were no facial imperfections. He was able to sit up without having pillows to keep him in place. There is no doubt in my mind but this was a brave issue to tackle and one that I hope in time will bring about changes in the law. If I had a totally debilitating stroke whereby I would become dependent on people for everything and I mean everything and couldn't communicate , I would wish to have my life ended. Yet in Sam's case, he knew that the clinic in Switzerland would even have rejected his request. That should have been enough for him to rethink his desire. Chris, who for the last few weeks has been getting on my wick, had me in tears because he was guilt tripped into killing his Dad. Finally Mrs Tembe ! I don't usually like her but I was going HURRAH and AWWWWWWWW when she kissed the vicar and when she decided to let the people know about their relationship. This new human side to Mrs T is most welcome. When she smiles, isn't she so pretty ?
