At face value, Nick's a good reliable bloke with a sense of fun. He's very active and is always up for an adventure - climbing mountains and playing rugby. He's excited by opportunities that are a little out of the ordinary.
But why is Nick still a locum at his age? Nick will argue that he prefers the freedom. But is he really just an enthusiastic kid who hasn’t grown up? Or is there something else going on?
Nick has an emotionally troubled past. His wife, Sally, had a miscarriage after undergoing IVF treatment. Eventually their marriage broke down. He's still deeply affected by this and the death of his child.
Unknown to the Mill Health team, Nick was taken to court over a misdiagnosis. He was suspended by the GMC and forced to retrain as a doctor. As a result, he's a little nervous of complicated diagnosis and will always seek a second opinion.

Nick has had an emotionally troubled past. He misdiagnosed a patient who then died and was consequently suspended by the General Medical Council (GMC) and forced to retrain as a doctor. His wife, Sally, had a miscarriage after years of struggling to get pregnant. Eventually their marriage broke down. He's still deeply affected by the guilt of his patient's death and the death of his child.
As a result of his suspension, Nick's a little nervous of complicated cases and will always seek a second opinion.
Nick was always very active and up for an adventure - climbing mountains and playing rugby - and excited by opportunities that were a little out of the ordinary. But since a car accident which left him paralysed from the waist down, he's had to rethink his life. Nick continues to struggle to come to terms with his disability.
