i get the feeling the bbc don't care much about this program, i have checked the listing for doctors on bbc prime to see when they start the summer break - from past years i remember that we start it later than the break in bbc1, but we usually start the new series at the same time in september. well, not any more. the page on the bbc prime was very staight forward:
so, that's the end for us prime viewers. we won't see the kate and mac storyline... too bad.
also, all the good characters are leaving, or already left. the whole idea brings me to the thought the bbc don't care much for doctors and see no future to it. maybe they just want to fade the show out... and frankly, they way they run out of good patients stories, maybe they are right and there isn't future for doctors at all!
what do you all think? (no spoilers please...) i

I'm sorry but how ridiculous to say Doctors is going to end soon. The BBC said recently before the start of the new series in April, that they were very happy with the programme and the current storylines, and it still gets very high viewing figures - it's one of the most watched programmes on daytime TV. As for BBC Prime stopping the show, well that's got nothing to do with BBC1, or BBC Birmingham who make the show. It says in the quote that Iris posted, that BBC Prime are revamping their channel, and Doctors has no place in the new look channel. What's that got to do with the BBC saying that they think Doctors isn't good enough? I know some people on this board have been disappointed by the recent cast departures, like Mac, Helen, Sarah, Faith etc, but a lot of people still enjoy the show, and this no baring on the quality of the storylines, which are still just as good as they have been for a long time. Just because you don't like it anymore doesn't mean that it's not going to made for much longer.

but Doctors is still one of my favourite shows, Intervention. I know that the BBC were happy with it in april, but in tv terms that's quite a while ago. even if the show isn't cancelled, i'm sure it's going to be 'wobbly' for a while to come.

Do you think the show would go into total meltdown if some more of the cast left?

Do you think the show would go into total meltdown if some more of the cast left? if i'm totally honest - yes. she who shall remain nameless - are you a member of the board? or do you know something that we don't? I'm going to edit this post today or tomorrow, after Sport Relief, with the reasoning behind my answer

BRING BACK THE OLDIES!
Admittedly Mac's probably safer where he is at the moment, but I'm sure the likes of Helen, Marc, Jude, Ben, Nathan, Sarah, anyone-else-anyone-can-think-of etc. would be more than welcome if they felt like dropping in at The Mill. Let's face it, the leaps and bounds of modern medicine have resulted in our population steadily expanding; if The Mill wants to keep up with this trend (and give Greg time to be a police surgeon and George time with Bracken), then it needs more staff. And who better than some tried and trusted friends?
Maybe the programme would benefit to.
